Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

WELCA is a Christian women's support ministry of the Lutheran Church.

     WELCA organizes many services and charitable drives throughout the year to aid members, as well as the local and world community. 

     WELCA stands for Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. All women of Peace Church are automatically a member and are always invited to attend our meetings. Meetings are usually held on the 3rd Monday of the month (except July and August) at 7:00 PM in the fellowship hall. There are short devotions, business meeting, special programs or work projects and refreshments. We have a spring picnic in June, "Share a Salad" in September, and a Christmas party. Watch the bulletins and newsletter for details and any change of meeting time. All women are invited to join us for an evening of faith, fun and fellowship. 

Here is a list of some of our activities and outreach:

  • Prayer Shawl Ministry
  • Presentations on mission trips and travels
  • Health presentations: heart healthy snacks, breast cancer awareness
  • Flower arranging demonstration
  • Learn to knit a dishcloth
  • Women of Peace Church Spring Dinner with entertainment
  • Lutheran World Relief - school kits, health kits, sewing kits "Love-Care project" for college students
  • Flowers for confirmation class on Pentecost
  • Poinsettias and cards for our shut-ins at Christmas
  • Military care packages, phone cards and donations
  • Monthly cards/notes to our shut-ins
  • Shoes for Gulf Coast school children 

Thank Offerings in spring and fall. Recent gifts have gone to:

  • KenCrest Centers Peace Youth Trip
  • Quilts
  • Christmas Service Project - Silver Springs gifts, people in need

At times, we ask for the help of the entire congregation and we are very thankful for the support of everyone.
