Every Summer Peace-Tohickon hosts a week long Vacation Bible School
for community children. This year the theme is Baobab Blast.

God's Great Get-Together
Baobab Blast is an open invitation to be a part of God’s Great Get-Together. Set under the impressive baobab tree, kids will have the opportunity to hear the Word, be amazed at God’s wildlife creations, and be a part of a supportive community. This will be a life-changing experience for your kids as you gather together as a community and grow in faith. As the sun rises and sets on the savannah, so, too, will faith and relationships grow as kids explore connections with God, family, friends, and others around the world. Get ready to experience the most amazing community get-together under the sun

God Calls Us to Community: Make New Friends
At Baobab Blast, kids get a consistent message of God’s unconditional love. Every activity helps kids understand how to build nurturing relationships with God, family, and others. At Baobab Blast, building relationships is not just a theory; it’s a place where meaningful friendships happen. Plus, by participating in the mission project, The Rainbow School, they learn how to help expand God’s community to our companion synod in Tanzania Africa.  The Rainbow School is the only school for special needs students in NE Tanzania, and it is part of the ministry of the Lutheran Church. Lives are changed by the unconditional love that students find there.

What is a Baobab?
Baobab (bä´obab´´) is a gigantic tree found in Africa that creates its own ecosystem. A baobab tree’s hollowed-out trunk, leaves, foliage, nectar, fruit, and bark provide basic life needs for many different creatures. For two months out of the year, when the rain falls and the grasses are green in the African Savannah, the baobab tree produces leaves and flowers. The enormous tree can grow to 98 feet tall and 36 feet wide. Baobab trees are one of the world’s oldest life forms. The baobab tree serves as a meeting place for many people to gather, discuss, and share stories. At Baobab Blast, the baobab tree is the central figure—the hub of activity, energy, and life. The baobab tree supports and invites community. In fact, the baobab tree is a symbol of community.
